Dear One,
In two weeks, Venus, the archetype of Love, turns retrograde for 42 days. Venus Retrograde is a powerful portal of transformation of the heart, and only occurs every 18 months. The divine timing of cosmic events is a reflection of what is occurring in our personal lives, and what we do with the energy makes a difference of how we experience it.
I find it very telling that this Venus Retrograde is coming around just as we have moved through a highly activated Eclipse portal- a significant portal of transformation in of itself. The message is clear: We are in an extraordinary time of transformation! The cosmos is setting the stage for us, and we are invited to participate in this cosmic dance by embracing the changes asked of us so that we may rise up into our truth and power.
Even more telling is that Venus Retrograde, mythologically represented as the descent of the Goddess into the Underworld to courageously undergo a death/rebirth, is occurring during the darkest days of the year (for those of us in the Northern Hemisphere). We are being asked to look into the darkness and embrace the depths of the heart to find the true love hiding within- the source of our greatest power.
Will we resist the changes, and be clouded by challenges, fears, and contraction, limiting what is possible? Or, will we open our hearts to the changes, and allow the unknown to help us heal, strengthen, and expand into our infinite potential?
I choose to surrender to the unknown. I trust in the mystery of the planetary cycles and work with cosmic timings and sacred rhythms of life ritually, and have done so for the last decade:
I honor the rising and setting sun daily, with sacred prayers and fire offerings.
I immerse in ceremony for every New and Full moon (holding ceremony for a group or in solitude). I plant seeds for new endeavors on New Moons, and I release what has become too full on Full Moons with gratitude.
I honor the changing seasons in ceremony for every Solstice and Equinox.
I bless my food as I prepare it and before I eat every day.
I fast with the changing seasons, to empty my vessel and align with the current seasonal and planetary energies.
And when Venus turns retrograde for 40+ days, I enter the Underworld with her in this sacred descent into the unknown.
Will you join me in this sacred Descent into the Underworld? Engaging ritually with cosmic cycles aligns your entire being with the cosmos. In ritual space, your body, your heart, and your soul align with your higher self and the Divine, awakening remembrance of your own divinity and inter-connectedness to All That Is.
I began this process of Descent as a private ritual years ago, but in this New Age, shared ritual space is needed more than ever. The power generated from shared intentions to heal and expand self-love expands exponentially when many are gathered. The work we do for ourselves ultimately becomes a healing force of Love for the whole world.
