I WAS TOLD TO DIM MY LIGHT

Recently, I received some feedback from someone who told me that I need to “tone it down.” Meaning, this person was finding the light of joy I radiate to be “too much.” Have you ever had an encounter like this?

In her perspective, it is insensitive for someone like myself to boldly follow my heart’s passion without thinking of the harm it might do to someone else. She told me that I might be hurting other people’s feelings when I’m seen doing something that they want to do themselves, but can’t do themselves for some reason (be it physical, financial or mental limitations, etc).

She told me, “You don’t think about how other people might feel about what you do.”

Actually, there was a long period of my life that I did care what people thought of me and made choices accordingly that were out of alignment with my truth.

There was a time when words like hers would’ve felt harmful to me and stopped me from shining my light.

What is truly harmful is the betrayal of the self and the truth of one’s heart.
What is truly harmful is dimming your light to appease the insecurities of others.
What is truly harmful is forgetting yourself in the attempts to make others seemingly happy.

When you are aligned with the truth of your heart, any negative reaction it incites from others comes from the false perception that your radiant light is a threat.

It’s certainly not the first time I’ve received negative feedback like this, and it’s the many years of being on the path of trusting the guidance of my heart above all else that keeps me grounded in truth when others want to shut down my light.

From this anchor of truth, I can peacefully hold compassion for the naysayer who struggles with their own insecurities that are triggered by me or anyone else who embodies their truth.

It’s not to say I don’t consider what other people think of me these days. But the perspective now is the knowing within me that I am here to inspire others to shine their heart’s truth in the world by embodying that for myself. I now hold the awareness that taking a leap into the sacred unknown will inspire someone else to do the same in their own way.

We are here to help each other radiate our most magnificent light.
We are here to celebrate one another in the shining light of our own individual truth.
We are here to remember the truth of Love within.

This is the greatest gift we can each give to the world.

I am here to help you remember that everything is possible when you are in alignment with your heart’s truth.

May you remember that your light is meant to be seen in the world and may you courageously embody your truth in all you do.

For it is the radiance of light that IS our Truth.

Shine on, dear One! :)

With Radiant Love,
Angela
